Meet the Governors of Helpringham Primary School

I am a Chartered Town Planner and Managing Director of a Town and Country Planning and Landscape Architecture consultancy based in the village.  I attended Helpringham School as a child when my family moved to the area in 1977 and then came to live and work in Helpringham in 2002.  My wife is a Teaching Assistant at the school and my two children are students.  I first became a Community Governor of the school in 2007 and have been a member of the Governing Body ever since, becoming Chair of Governors in October 2015.

I am a retired Headteacher and have lived in Helpringham for over 30 years. My own children came to the school many moons ago!
I am one of the co-opted governors and have only one aim- to ensure that all the children at our school are happy, interested in the world, and reach their full potential. I look forward to working with the Headteacher and staff to ensure that this can be achieved for everyone.

I started my formal education in April 1947 in Miss Green’s Infant Class at Helpringham School, leaving the school in July 1953  My two daughters attended the school in the 1970s/80s and my grandson from 2004-2011.
I have been a Governor of the school for around 25 years, and have just stepped down as Chairman, which I was privileged to be for a number of years working with three different Headteachers.
For several years I was a Governor of Kesteven and Sleaford High School and Chairman for 6 years.  I have also been a Parish Councillor for a number of years and I am currently Chairman of the East Midland NFU Sugar Beet Forum.

Parent Governor (Safeguarding)

I am an HCPC registered paramedic and currently hold the position of Locality Quality Manager for Lincolnshire division of East Midlands Ambulance Service NHS Trust. As part of my job I sit on the Lincolnshire Safeguarding Children's Board.
I have been a member of the PTFA for the past two terms and I have a son who is a student at the school.
I have joined the School Governing Body because I am passionate about continually developing the educational experience for the students.

Staff Governor (H&S)

I am in my second year as a staff Governor and I currently teach the Year 1 children in Snowy Owls. I am also a member of the standards committee working towards improving performance and developing the curriculum in school.
Prior to being a staff Governor I was a parent Governor for eight years as my two boys attended the school and both thoroughly enjoyed their time here.

Hannah Thorogood. I am a local (small) farmer & permaculture (eco-social design) teacher. I have two daughters at Helpringham. I am a governor as I want to support the school to be the best it can be.
