At Helpringham Primary School, our curriculum intent is to develop our sense of ourselves, others and the world.

Within computing we enable children to develop their sense of self by becoming passionate about modern technology. The children are encouraged to discuss and understand the how important the role of computing is in our everyday lives and how developing our skills in computing can assist us in the future. We support them to become confident using technology and the internet and develop an understanding on how to protect ourselves online.

In order to develop our sense of others in computing we teach to share their passion for computing with others. We provide them with the skills and knowledge to understand how people use technology in different ways and how to interact safely with others online. Computing can help us to communicate and share ideas and information with others in a way that develops our knowledge.

Computing helps our children develop their sense of the world around them by assisting them to have a deeper understanding of the world around them. We develop understanding of how computing can provide us with access to wider opportunities to learn and the significance of computing in the wider world.

We ensure that high quality teaching drives high quality learning through regular assessment for learning which ensures no child is left behind.

The children develop their skills, starting in Early Years with mouse control, keyboard skills, saving and printing work. They draw pictures, write and use the internet to carry out research. They then progress to more complex skills such as data analysis and coding. Pupils will use technology safely and identify where to go for help and support when they have concerns. We use the NCCE programme to support our teaching of Computing. 

Online Safety for our children is extremely important to us. We teach e-safety skills through our computing curriculum as well as through our PSHE curriculum. We use Project Evolve to support our children's online safety knowledge. We also direct parents to important information and support around E-Safety through our school newsletter and on this website.
